Gunny Gear because, it was EARNED, not given.
At just 17 years old, July “La Gunny” Franco asked her father for permission to join the world’s elite military branch—the United States Marine Corps. With grit, resilience, and determination, she overcame countless obstacles to earn the title of United States Marine.
Like many new Marines, PVT Franco went to the military exchange store in search of a shirt that represented her hard work, style, and pride. But as a 5’1”, 88-pound petite Marine, she quickly realized there was nothing made to fit her. The message was clear—while she had earned the title, the gear had not evolved to include someone built like her.
She waited, for 23 years, yet nothing changed. La Gunny turned to the motto that had carried her through the Corps and into business: “Be the Solution.”
The solution: Gunny Gear —a Service-Disable Veteran, Latina, Woman military-inspired apparel brand built to empower, uplift, and represent those who serve. Gunny Gear is a movement, a mindset, and a testament that what is EARNED can never be taken lifestyle.
